Has anyone used the small 4" x 8" filter socks?

Tank size?
How many socks?
How often did you change them?

I currently run four 4x8 on a sump that is plumbed to four different tanks. 120,60 and two 30 gallon displays. I change the socks every other day. I have a large amount of socks collected over the years so I have no issue changing them that often.

I'm trying to plan for a custom tank I'll be making. Looks like it will be around 45 or 60 gallons. I'd like to do sock changes once a week. So, it sounds like I'll need to plan for 3 or 4 sock holders.

I change filter socks once a week. Felt works better that nylon mesh but nylon mesh requires less frequent changes.

I had one 4x15 felt sock on my 75 and changed it every 3-4 days. It was so annoying. I'd be happier with changing every 7-14 days.

You can try a 300 micron sock that will let a little more through it but won't require replacement as frequently or a 200 micron nylon sock.

I just started using these to reduce microbubbles. Works like a charm. Turned the color of skimmate in 3 days. Amazon has 8 packs for 40 bucks, 200 micron felt socks. so I figure I will get a good week and a half before I run out, gonna change every 2 days or so. Easy as doing a small load of laundry to keep them always on hand.
