Hi all!

Long time stalker here, finally decided to join up and post.

After tons of research I think I have my final stocking list for my new pride and joy aquarium. I'm just asking that you guys second check my list in case I missed anything, and also what order should I add the critters?

The display tank is 570 gallons with a 180 gallon sump and refugium. The plan at the moment is to be a community tank, but not to include any corals. However, if we end up changing the plan and going that way it would be mostly softies as my lights and tank depth won't work for much else.

My proposed stocking list:

CUC (gonna start small and add as needed)

10x Trochus snails
10x Nassarius snails
10x Cerith snails
20x Dwarf Cerith snails
10x Scarlet hermit crabs
1x Blue tuxedo urchin
2x Scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp

Fish

4x Carpenter flasher wrasse (1 male, 3 female)
10x Blue/green chromies
Orange stripe prawn goby
Royal gramma
Orchid dottyback
3x Pajama cardinals
Foxface
2x Black and white ocellaris clowns
Yellow tang
Blue tang
Sailfin tang
Blonde naso tang
Flame angel
2x Green mandarin (way down the road)

I tried not to pick anything that would compete with the mandarins for food. That eliminated alot of choices!

I look forward to any input you all may have. Thanks!

All will be fine. You will be suprised how lil that stocklists will take up
The chronos will most likely dwindle down to 1 via death matches. The Carpenters may also become 4 males but will probably have enough room, but still probably 2 will coexist in the long run.

Yeah I have almost that many fish in my 240. :D. You will eventually be able to add many more fish if you should choose to do so. Slow and easy is the way to go!

wow! talk about a dream tank! what are the dems. of this tank?
OK it is was ME stocking this beauty here what I would ad to your list.
I think your pretty understocked. IMHO and +1 on the chromies they might make it they prob. will not.
so give that you desire a community tank. I would go with a butterfly angle and tang tank along with your smaller fish. some day I will have one. you could ad your soft corals if you want.
I think a well executed tank like that would looks amazing!
just me 2 cents.

Add more fish to your list! Add some angels and butterflies!

What is your plan on adding the tangs? All at once?

Also, photos when you can! :)

Add more fish to your list! Add some angels and butterflies!

The reason I don't have any butterflyfish is that most of the research I did portrays them as voracious pod eaters which would out compete the mandarins. Mandarins have been on my wish list for a long time and I would pick them over any butterfly I think.

I do have the one flame angel on my list so far. What other angels could be added that wouldn't be a threat to the other fish and inverts?

I agree that there is still a lot of room in the 570. Any suggestions for other fish to add that will work with my community, crustacean friendly, possibly softie, and mandarin friendly tank?

As for the tangs, I was planning on doing a couple batches as to not overload the biofilter, but I usually try to add tangs at the same time. My stocking order hasn't been set yet

Add the sailfin and blue tangs last. They can be jerks

Regal Angel, Genicanthus Angels, lots of angelfish options that are safe

Just from my own personal experience I'd pass on the dottyback. Any pseudo chromis is a known ahole...

The tank dimensions are 96x48x30h

Upon further review I may just start over and go with something like you suggested. There are just to many angels that I like, and most of the smaller fish are only there because they are already in my 55 reef and I was toying with the idea of getting rid of that tank.

Decisions decisions...

According to those dimensions, the tank would actually be 604.7 gallons

Those are awesome dimensions more like a hot tub than aquarium. I also love mandarins but I'd be concerned that you would never see them in a tank that big. I've had great luck with Vlamigni Tangs in the past.

True. When the glass is subtracted the actual water dimension ends up being 94.5x46.5x30, which gave me the 570 gallon number for my hot tub. And yes, I have been swimming in it :)

Angels
Most geni are fine
Regal=as long as no zoas, clams and fleshy lps u will probably be fine
Same with most other Angels

Tangs
Your group is fine, but add the aggressive ones last

Anthias and wrasses would look killer in there

Some psuedos are fine = blue lined, springeri
Others way agressive=Arabian, splendid
Grammas, blennies and gobies will be great in that tank
Smaller clowns or designers are pretty fine together except maroons, sebaes.

Again these are not 100% but pretty close. I've had all in big tanks and space is almost always the key factor

Thanks d-man. I am seriously considering a semi-aggressive community with not alot of fish, but a bunch of very large ones. Some fish I've been considering..

large angels
Emperor
Blue girdled
Queen
Regal
Koran

Dwarf angels
Potter's
Coral beauty
Bicolor
Flame back

Tangs
Blonde naso
Yellow
Blue
Sailfin

Thoughts?

+1 on the potters angel. It leaves my softies\lps\sps alllll alone. Only angel I really plan on having in my tanks.

All the large angels you named are aggressive except the Regal and Girdled. I would avoid a queen and emperor same with the Koran
