Looking try out one of these pumps for a 40 gallon breeder build. I feel like the 800gph maximum of the DC3000 would be enough but it would be running at 100%. Would it be better to get the 6000 and dial it down?

Thank you

I have the DCT6000 on my 50 breeder and I run it at about 30 to 40% and it's fine.

I use the DC3000 to run my carbon and GFO reactors and I think it would be barely enough for a return pump at 5 to 6 feet head pressure.

6000 for sure. I used a 6000 on my 75g it was the return and manifold pump. I ran GFO/Carbon, UV and biopellets off the manifold.

Well I use a 6000 on my 120 running at 50%. So I would say 3000. You don't want a ton of flow through the sump.

Or the 8000 for just $7 more....

I honestly would caution against the jebao DC line. Mine has an irritating whine to it.

I run a DCT6000 on my 40B with a biopellet reactors and UV running off a manifold. It is on the highest setting.

How is the noise level of the DCT? I thought about buying one but didn't find any reviews. Debating on a new return pump to replace the dc6000. Getting rid of the noises equipment one at a time.

They have a new model out. DCS series. Take a look at those as well.

I don't know what the price difference is on them so if it's not much then sure you can get the 6000 incase you decide to run reactors or even upgrade in the future. Otherwise I'm sure the 3000 will be just fine.

It whines at 50%? Mine only whines at 100%.

I doubled checked today, I actually running mine at 20% so yes it's a lot of flow.

Yes it whines at every speed. The noise just changes pitch.

I run my DCT6000 at full bore on my 70g. Think I might purchase a DCS9000 so I won't have to run at full blast. The 6000 at full power does have a whine but my sump is in the garage so it's not like it matters to me.

Ya DC pumps do this but in my experience it one got intolerable at the highest settings.

I wouldn't call it silent, but it is fairly quiet. Volume-wise it is about the same as my sicce SK200 skimmer pump. The fans on my light are louder than both (loudest part of my system).

The DC pump in my skimz skimmer does not make this sound. The only thing you can hear is a low noise from air being pulled in.

Well I would assume that it is pretty quiet. My DC6000 is the loudest thing in my system now.

Mine not only had irritating whine but stopped working with alarming frequency. Cost me most of my fish in my 75 when a DC 4,000 died in middle of night, because heaters were in sump and temp in DT dropped more than 10 F. Had another one powering an ATS that died on another tank, resulting in screen being cooked. Oh, and 2 x three month old RW-15s in my 180, died, were resurrected with vinegar bath and thorough cleaning, then died again a few weeks later, to be resurrected again, only to die for good after a few hours/days. IME, the Jebao WP 40s were reliable pumps and a great bargain. (I bought 6 of them and they worked well for more than 2 years.) But based on my experience with Jebao DC and RW pumps, I will never buy another Jebao.

Huh well mine has been running nearly a year now without any trouble. Except the whine that is. But yeah jebao isn't known for its reliability. Cheap stuff.

I wouldn't think a 10f drop would kill any fish. I've moved them and had them in really cold water without losing any.
