Salifert test kit and Hanna meter not coming up with same alkalinity reading.

Salifert 8.9 and Hanna Meter 7.5 dkh. Reagent and kit not expired.

What can I keep on hand to use as a calibration or check solution. I know the salifert kit has a small amount included, but I want to check more frequently than that would be practical.

Anyone have a diy solution recommendation?

I'd trust the salifert - my Hanna was 1.1dKH lower than 2 saliferts + their check solution.
Hanna have fessed up about it,you can get a replacement bottle - see post #36 in that thread

There's a recipe for a DIY alkalinity solution here:

Unfortunately, it requires some precision measuring equipment.

Thanks, just read about Hanna Reagent problems. I ordered a new Salifert kit and will use the calibration solution.

New salifert test kit came but with no check solution? Both salifert kits agree DKH 7.7.

Hanna Meter with New reagent dated 3/2017 checks 7.5 dkh

Hanna Meter with old reagent dated 11/2016 test 5.9!!!

Definitely bad reagent.
