Greetings,

I am looking to cultivate/breed some pods for my fish. I am currently running a biocube, with no sump so this would more than likely be standalone setup. I've read multiple different articles, YouTube and done months of research, but needless to say I'm a little perplexed.

I was thinking of using the pods in a bottle to seed a 5 or 10 gal tank, possibly some "pot scrubbers", air stone and a light. The 2-liter bottle setup seems simply yet complex, and there aren't many if any LFS that sell pods besides the bottled one here in S. FL

Any advice to this point would be welcomed.

So to start, where do you even get Copepods & Amphipod?

Tagging on to see how any of what you find would work in a separate fuge. Thanks for the article.

Purchase some from a source such as Algae Barn. That should give you a base for them to start reproducing.

As mentioned Algae Farm sells a basic culture set up to get you started

LiveAquaria has Algagen's tangerine copepods (Arctodiaptomus salinus) on sale during their weekly special. They are easy to culture either with live phyto or algae paste.

I have a 10G aquarium with an air stone and no heater. From the dollar store, about 15 bath scrubbers. I keep the water green with home grown Phyto. Every week, I syphon the crap off of the bottom and then stir up the rest and remove half of the water. It is then run through a 100 micron sieve. I check what I harvest under an electronic microscope from Amazon and there are thousands of pods every week.
