Like most people I have an over sized skimmer. I have quite a few SPS that are doing ok. They sometimes experience a growth spurt then it stops for several weeks. My nitrates are pretty low around 1-2.

I feed 6 times a day.

My question is would turning off my skimmer every other day for 24 theoretically increase my nutrient levels? Or am I asking for a disaster. I don't chemically clean my tank at all. Just a giant mat of cheato. Giant. And a little filter floss.

I wouldn't turn the skimmer off but I would pull out most of that Chae to as the more you have the more nutrients that it's pulling out of the water. I've had the same issue, and now I just routinely pull out extra macro weekly and problem solved.

Awesome plan. It grew out of control and I've just left it there. It's a hard 3 inch thick mat bowe

Just pulled out a 6 inch by 4 inch by 3 inch thick carpet again yesterday. 4 weeks of growth. It's such a nice deep green too. Wish my garden looked like that lol
