I recently got a matted filefish and hes been doing great with my shrimp and crabs so far. He is not aggressive with my other fish and has been eating the mysis shrimp ive been feeding him. I know he is reef safe "With Caution", but are there any corals he will most likely not pick at? like mushrooms or something?

Zoas seem to be a favorite target, just depends on the fish....

My matted filefish destroyed my red and green zoas, for some reason he hasn't touched the pink ones. I bought a Duncan frag and he destroyed that too.

As far as I can tell he hasn't bothered any other corals, and I have shrooms, LPS and SPS.

So you think mushrooms and maybe other lps?

our pair (got a bonded pair off of DD 6 months ago) has picked on only eagle eye zoas (of about 5 types in the tank) and has seemed to leave lps/sps alone. Well worth the trade off for the hundreds of aptasia they consumed.

I got one on Friday and just today he started picking at the aiptasia in my tank. So far hasn't picked on any corals that I've seen. I have leathers, SPS and mostly LPS. I can't wait until he starts devouring my problem aiptasia. I don't have any zoas but I do have a Duncan and he's not touched it.

At least in my tank, mushrooms and my hammer and frogspawn LPS have not been touched.

I have to ask if any of you Matted file fish owners have seen their MFF eat bristle worms? Mine are absent since getting mine.

Interesting. I haven't seen ours eat any bristle worms but will keep an eye out for any signs of it in the future.

I haven't seen mine eat any worms, but I almost never observe the tank after lights out when the worms would be out.
