Just wondering what i can use to quiet down vibration in return pump, i was thinking of getting a piece of cloth and zip tying to the bottom of pump will it be bad for livestock if i keep the cloth in the sump?

I just put silicone on the bottom of my Mag 9. Just a bunch of 1/4" dots. It worked great no noise at all and i already had the tube of silicone.

A length of airline tubing woven through the holes in the bottom of the pump works well- creates 2 little skids

A bag of sand will do it too.

Don't forget the return line. I used some of this http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/white-soft-silicone-tubing-sold-by-the-foot.html it made the biggest difference on my pump.

I used one of those computer mouse pads on my last tank. This was suggested to me by a local reefer. It worked great and had no issues.

I got a mousepad pulled the color fabric off to reveal just the rubber and reduced my noise/vibration to 1/10th for $1 at the dollar store

Since we are on the subject of quieting a return pump...I just replaced a 12" X 1" vinyl tube with a 1.5" tube. The stuff is so darn stiff I still get some vibrations. They also had some 1.5" discharge pump line that would be very soft(the self collapsing type). Has anyone ever used that?

I think the soft silicon tubing from BRS is the best bet. I have a short piece waiting for my setup and it's surprisingly soft & flexible.

I had some of that on my old freshwater tank. Good stuff for sure. Just having a hard time finding 1.5"

Yeah I just got a foot even though I don't need that much. Some other use will turn up.
