So I had a run in with aiptasia in my 29 gallon biocube and decided to start over fresh. Luckily I have a 75 gallon fowlr in my living room where I was able to quarantine my fish and corals for the time being.

I started with dry rock from brs, the reef saver stuff, and dry sand as well.

Day one - 20lbs dry rock, 20~25lbs dry sand, and 1lb of live rock to seed, around 20 gallons of premixed reef crystals salt water. Been maintaining a constant temp of right around 84 degrees with lights off 24/7.

Day two - added Bio-spira

Day three - Added an entire cube of brine shrimp to start the cycle (which seems like a lot for a biocube I would never feed my fish an entire cube)

I've been playing the waiting game ever since and I'm right around the two week mark so I decided to test the parameters.

Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - 40-50ppm

Are these signs that my tank has cycled already if the ammonia and nitrites were successfully converted to nitrates?

Thanks for any input! :fish1:

If you want to be sure, just add some ammonia to tank and test to see they show up. Wait 24 -48 hours and retest to see that they went to 0.

Thanks guys, that sounds like a smart thing to do. If I have the pure ammonia, how much exactly would I want to add? I know a little goes a long way but like a tablespoon? 1/4 cup? Not really sure how much to add. Thanks fellas

There are calculators online. https://www.hamzasreef.com/Contents/Calculators/AmmoniaCycling.php

You should be able to process 2ppm in 24 hrs
