upgrading my setup need some help

theres some stuff that im pretty confused about. is the sump the same thing as a refugium? i have a hob 350 g/hr filter that im fine with either taking off or leaving on. i would like to start raising my own pods, snails, and other food for my new puffer as well as doing other things in the fuge that i dont even know are possible lol. tank is a 65 g thats close to a year old and i would like to start having a legit setup instead of the minimalistic setup i have now. plus it will help me setup my larger tank when i move. any advice on the above questions and anything else i may not have mentioned would be appreciated. thanks guys and gals

Some people have a refugium as part of their sump, but no they are different.

There's tons of info on this site. I suggest you start reading the 'New to the hobby' section'. That might be the best area to educate yourself. Of course 'Reef Chemistry' is good too!
