my nitrate use to be 50-80 and phos 0.5 way to high or so I'm lead to believe but I had a very clean tank ,no algae ,healthy fish, lps plus softies and good coraline growth .

Anyway I started trying to reduce these levels (not sure why) I put rowa and cheato with a new rear chamber light to feed it and reduced my phos and nitrate to near zero ........great,,,,, but hang on my clean tank now has hair algae and turf algae sprouting up all over the place and my coralline growth has also stopped growing .

I have increased feeding due to a new large goby and two hungry clowns but my phos and nitrates are much lower then they were .

I have also reduced white lights but increased blues to compensate .

Any ideas whats going on ???????

How old is the Rowa? I change mines out when my phosphates gets back up around .08 (which is around every month). There are phosphates in the water, but when you test it's showing 0 because the phosphates are getting absorbed.

it was almost 4 weeks have just changed it ,but tank was cleaner before I started using rowa or cheato with much higher phos levels ! Infact it was pretty much spotless

Did you use dry rock when you started the tank? If so, it could be possible that they are leaching out the phosphates.
