I'm going to buy all new test kits and trying to figure out which ones are the best. Are the hanna checker's the best to buy to get an accurate reading, or are they just overpriced?

Red Sea Tritration are the way to go, No matter which one you decide to go with make sure you get the newest batch available to ensure best results.

Salifert. Personally not a fan of Red Sea accuracy or ease of use.

I'm a test kit snob and have settled on these test kits:
Nitrate- Red Sea
Phosphate- Hanna Checker (the phosphorous checker)
Alkalinity- Salifert (I recently picked up a hanna checker for this but I'm still testing it out)
Calcium- Red Sea
Magnesium- Red Sea

I've used both Salifert and Red Sea. I have to say I prefer Red Sea for ease of use. When I've checked, the results are very consistent. I have no way of knowing how accurate any particular test is.
