I work in photonics/optics and came across this article at work. Figured the folks over in the clam forum might be interested:

http://www.photonicsonline.com/doc/giant-clams-offer-clues-to-improve-solar-cells-color-displays-0001?sectionCode=News&templateCode=Single&user=2479529&source=nl:44762&utm_source=et_6214181&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=PHOTO_2016-01-25&utm_term=D6A8B9FB-3358-4519-955C-80AF33CFC73F&utm_content=Giant%2bClams%2bOffer%2bClues%2bTo%2bImprove%2bSolar%2bCells%252c%2bColor%2bDisplays

I didn't read it very thoroughly, but if anyone wanted some clarification or deeper explanation, I'd be happy to help! :)

Fascinating. Who knew your LED TV and clams had so much in common?

Will you be attending photonics west? I also work in optics.

I used to go there every year, but unfortunately just moved away from the bay and won't be there this year. I go for the trade show mostly.
