View Full Version : Controller Comparison

I'm looking at purchasing a controller and am looking for simple opinions on different devices. I've looked at Apex, Reef Angel and Puratek. I know Apex seems to have the best/widest brand recognition with RA a close second. RA seems to be the best for true customization due to it's software. I stumbled across the Puratek and it seems awesome, but I've not found any end user reviews. So, having said all of this, please fire away and please give me your preferences and a quick why.

Thanks!

Did you forget the Archon?

No I didn't forget DA per se--just forgot to throw them on the list. To me it seems that ALL of them do basically the same thing. Sure, one may do one thing the other do not and vice-versa, however, to me it seems that price is the major difference.

wbdevers,
I copied a comparison list of controllers some time ago, believe it was from RC.

I was having the same trouble making a decision and made a similar thread a few days ago. Yesterday I ended up going with an Apex an am happy I did so far. It went together easily and I got online with it easily. I can control from my phone, laptop, and tablet all with ease.

So far I have it controlling my skimmer, fuge light, heater and return pump along with a pair of jebao wavemakers (i got the jebao module as well). It took me a couple min watching a youtube video and I was quickly able to make all kinds of wave profiles for the wavemakers which are really cool.

It was pricey of course, but I figured buy once cry once.

I'm interested in this list as well (although just got an Apex). Any reason the info can't just be posted here?

You know if that list is over a couple of months old it will be out of date.

I have not, for some reason I did not even know about them. might look in to them but they seam pricey and look cheap just my 1st thoughts. how is the CS and support. the good think about Apex is all the ppl running them = lots of help if you need it.

Looks to be outdated, like 2011 outdated.

Another thing to take into consideration when looking at reviews if it happens to be an Apex review is if it was pre Fusion or not. Lots of issues were resolved with Fusion, especially web connectivity.

My chart just might be older than this one, so, I defer to Mr. Holt's chart.
