Hey,

So I've decided to get back into the hobby after a small break. I had to tear down my old tank when I moved into my new house, so I figured I would sell what I had and start fresh.
My old tank was a 125 shallow reef, it never got off the ground like I had hoped, and dealing with larger volumes of water, although more forgiving, got tiresome.

So I started looking for good deals on used tanks on Craigslist, and was able to snag a Biocube HQI 29 gallon with dry rock, and some extras, for $175, which I think was a good deal.

Plan:

So, I want to eventually make this into a reef tank with a few small fish to enhance it a bit. I went with the HQI because of the metal halides and ability to be able to grow SPS in the future if I so decide.

Setup:

So I got the tank home, filled it with water and checked for leaks. No leaks :bounce3:

I did a cleaning, and rinsed my sand, to do some aquascaping. This is how it turned out. I like the U-shaped look with a cave in the middle. Ideally I like to keep as much open sand around the rock structure as possible.

I decided that I am going to clean off the dead corralline tonight, as well as let the rock soak in RODI for a couple days before I set it up this weekend.

I bought a Tunze nanostream 6025 that should be in by the time I have to set it up.

More updates to come!

I filled the tank today, so I will be added a bit of fish food to start the cycle. I had to redo the rockwork, but I think it came out pretty good!
