It's sucking in air. Where is the pipe in the sump? Can you post pictures of that?

is it because the pipe in the sump is not submerged in the water? or thats not the problem?

What? 2 of my 3 tanks have one drain and are dead silent.

To op, glad you are getting the parts to quite your tank down.

A good newbie method for silencing your drain is the "Herbie". You need to have (2) holes drilled for one, but if you're using one of your two hole for your return pump, just return the pump over the top of the glass to free up an extra hole. The "durso" only stops noise in the display, you may still have noise in the tube and sump.

Did durso in overflow box and reverse durso in sump. Used 1.5" PVC to make them and have a 1" bulkhead. Tank is now silent.

If you do the reverse durso in the sump thats mean you dont use filter bag? Or its still working

durso and lower the flow till your happy with the noise. that's about your only option. I have a single 1.5" durso on my tank and it's silent. Only hear the water entering the overflow box a little bit. Not sure on the gph running through it, probably around 5-600gph.

On a side note, having your drain in the tank so exposed like that scares me. Seems way to easy to have a clog of some sort block it and your sump water ends up in your tank and then your floor!
