I have a opportunity to purchase an MP40 for an awesome price. Is anyone running an MP40 on a 40 breeder? If so, how do you have it setup? The pump can be dialed down, but would it still be too much for my tank?

I used an MP40 on a 40 breeder before I moved to a 65, and it worked fine. I just dialed it back. I actually prefered it over the two MP10's I eventually switched to because I could run it slower and it was quiet. When I went to the two MP10's they were much louder because I had to run them at a higher setting. This was before the QD's though, which have made my MP10's whisper quiet.

Why did you switch to the MP10s?

Non reefing related. At the time I had a money crunch, so I sold off my MP40 and went back to some koralia's I had. Once I was sorted out I missed the vortechs so I bought an MP10 used at a good price, and added another a few months later since one wasn't enough.

2 x mp 10 QD is the way that I went for my daughters tank. Mp40 will work, just not random flow.

Unfortunately, the guy said that it was in a box for a few months, and it wasn't working. He was asking $75 for it. I offered him $25, in the hopes that I could possibly get it working again, or send it back to EcoTech, and see what it would take to get it working. He hasn't responded, oh well.
