Hey guys
Wonder if anyone can give me some advice on this.

I'm looking for a RO/DI system for both drinking and aquarium use, which would be the best way?

1) Buy Spectropure Maxpure 90GPD RO system AND the Maxcap 1 stage Addon Assembly system with DI cartridge.
I was thinking of plumping RO into faucet for drinking and the DI to container for aquarium.

2) Buy Spectropure 90GPD RO/DI system and try and put a T junction in between the RO and DI section.....I'm not sure if that is even possible

Anyone have any experience or have done something similar converting a RO/DI unit into a drinking & aquarium unit?

I am doing option #2. Spectrapure sells a 3 way valve. I have a 5 gallon jug with a spout that when I make water for it just a turn of the valve and its fills up in about 40 mins

It's also a good idea to install a check valve between the membrane and the DI to prevent TDS creep

My RO drinking water system provides RO to 2x refrigerators and RODI to:
1. Mix tank
2. ATO Top off reservoir
3. Top to to QT tank

150gpd RO + DI system

5Gal pressure tank for the RO drinking water (under the QT tank)

RODI to refill the 3.5gal ATO res (all I can fit... gets me 2-3 days)

RODI top off to QT (not automated I have to top off every day just refill to the "Full Line" blue tape... but forces me to check on the QT everyday).

Hi Johnny

was it an easy DIY job for it? the tube connection to the DI portion was easy to remove?

Any chance at all you could take a photo of it?

@Indymann99 yea, that would be the ideal setup. Yours is Option 1 where you bought a separate DI stage right?

Correct I added DI (dual BRS) to a 150gph RO system. I replace carbon filters each year and get about 4-6mo out of DI changes.

Input TDS 396 (yeah my local water sux)

RO output 7 TDS

DI output 0

My tap water tds is 70+

tested 3 times over 3 days now and average is around 70

Does that theoretically mean I only need a 3 stage RO/DI system only?

All you have to do is cut the tube going from the membrane to the 1st DI canister and plumb the 3 way valve between the 2 sections of hose. The entry is the bottom of the valve

With a good membrane you will get 1 ppm TDS with a lesser membrane between 2-5 ppm with a RO only system. You could get by with that depending on what the TDS is. I would still add a DI section
