Good Morning RC,

I recently got a used ASM G3 Skimmer and the pump on it is def not the Sedra 5000 and is way to strong I feel.

The sticker on the pump is old and all text is gone. This is the best picture I have of the pump (im at work atm) and I need to figure out what it might be.

It def runs the skimmer but the water output is crazy.

A sedra 5000 is the correct pump for that skimmer. Looking at the shape of the motor, it could be a Sedra but even if it is a Sedra, it would be next to impossible to determine which model from your picture. Near as I can tell, the appears to be a label on the top of that pump. Is it not readable?

As I mentioned in your other post, I think part of your issue is that drain setup on the skimmer. It is completely incorrect.

This is what a properly plumbed G3 looks like.

The text on the pump is completely gone. I understand my solution to the splashing is not working for the skimmer. But Im just trying to identify the pump to get a better idea on what is going on with that front.

Why not remove it and take better pictures of it. While you are at it, measure the block and post the measurements. If the pictures help identify the manufacturer, the measurements should help identify the model.

I will do this once I get home. 8pm (EST) - I bought materials for the standpipe mod also to fix the way I currently have it draining.

Here are the pictures. I contacted the last owner and he thinks it's a pond master 1600..buy doesn't look like anything I Google.

Did you glue that up already? A gate valve gives you much finer control than a ball valve and you really want the fine control. It can make a big difference in the ability to fine tune the water level in the skimmer as ball valves aren't anywhere near as precise

I'd replace the pump with the correct size pump too. The right pump and a swapping that ball valve for a gate valve will make a world of difference when it comes to getting that skimmer performing to the best of it's abilities. They're pretty decent performing skimmers when properly setup and tuned.

No its not glued. Probably best to invest in a new pump.
