I have a canopy for my tank, so I'd like to utilize that for these if possible. The tank is in the living room where I have cathedral ceilings, so suspending them from that high isn't going to work. My two will be here this afternoon and I cannot wait to get them over the tank!!! :inlove:

I used pocket door rails and trucks so I could roll them in and out. Took a little customizing, but this is a hobby, right?

Truck mounts on a GalaxyHydro. I also had to relocate the power sockets for these. I combined the two into one, and then used a drill and a "nibbler" to cut a hole on the top at the end of the fixture. Snug fit, but fit perfectly. The GalaxyHydro fixtures I had to put the power socket in the center top of the fixture.

A GalaxyHydro hanging on the pocket door rails, trucks visible. This is with the front open on the canopy.

From the left to the right in three banks (24"W X 36"D), (2)Kessil A360WE/165W Galaxy Hydro/300W MarsAqua, 300W MA/(2)Kessil A350WE/300W MA, and 300W MA/165 GH/(2)Kessil A350WE. The Kessils are on the outside perimeter of the aquarium, and you can walk all the way around the reef - it runs diagonally from the left rear to the right front.
This image show the first two banks on and the third illuminated with only the Kessils.

I really need to improve my camera phone picture taking skills...

If you have any questions or need any more details, just let me know. This setup allowed me to keep the canopy (a requirement from the other members of the household) and still maintain the lights relatively easily while securely mounting them.
To remove a light, I unplug from the strip and the disconnect the cord from the back of the fixture. I then go around front and lift open the front of the canopy and carefully roll out the fixture. Reverse the process to put back in.

Oh and be sure to vent your canopy well, and be prepared to add a few ultra quiet computer fans to move the air out to keep things cool.

Cheers,
Ray
