Well, I just succumbed to an impulse purchase of an indian sea star and an orange linckia. I usually stay away from keeping starfish, but over the years I have had 2 sand sifting stars, 2 red sea stars, and an iconaster sea star. The iconaster did well until I had a pH swing due to kalk. I don't remember the red sea stars doing well at all, and the sand sifting stars lasted a couple of years each (although that probably means they starved slowly). I have read that linckia are hardy, graze on algae, microorganisms, and small bits of clam meat. I have some algae in my tank and clams in the freezer.

Any advice for linckia and indian sea stars?

This might help

I bought a pair of red linckia from liveaquaria because they had them listed as echinaster (I'm guessing your autocorrect made that iconaster?) so I was thinking they were closer to the common stars that kpaquatics sells. One's ok, the other is shrinking. I haven't been able to get them to eat, hope you have better luck. I think it's a crap shoot.

Hopefully they live a long time.
