I bought this petcock 3.7 back June or July. And thought it would be easy to setup. Upgrade light, sand,rock done.

I gutted the tank at first. The back wall wasn't silicone in to well. I thought I had it the way I wanted. Using stock pump as a powerhead. I wanted fine sand but didn't want to buy any. So I made a softer. Well after all this I let it cycle and decided I didn't like it. So I took it down and stored the sand in water. In hopes to save the bacteria. This was a few months ago. I was waiting till taxes came. So I could buy everything I wanted to do it right. Well they came and I've been spending. Man that's the most fun part!

Well, I decided to resilicone the back wall in. And set up the baffles the way I wanted. Also built a media rack. And upgraded the pump. The stock sucked!! 40gphwas all it was. I ordered some blk. One of the biggest disappointments originally. Was the water height in dt. And the fact it didn't surface skim to good. So I wanted to fix this. I ordered a jbj 6 gallon surface skimmer, And cc par 30 . The only problem with an egg crate media rack, the water flows out the sides instead of forcing the water down the rack and through your media. I also tried making one with egg crate and didn't work out so well.

Another new toy I needed. I'm in love with this ato!! I did slot of research and comparing. Don't expect any or little cycle. So far test are negative. So I picked up a little cuc. 3 micro blue legs, 1 astea, and rocks had pods, micro brittle starfish and 2 stomatellos. Also got some pellet carbon. Added to middle chamber. This lamp is built tough. What's your cost at so far?

Just a rough guess I'd say $350. That's not including the aqua lighter led. Or rocks , & sand. I'll have to sit down later and figure it all up.

I've got one of these as well and I rigged up a air stone skimmer but even after water changes I'm getting a protein film. Is that why you added the little overflow box? There's no turbulence through the small sump section.

It is, it's like $6 and some glue. I used model glue. But Weldon might work also.

Nice! I was looking at this tank but my gf wouldn't let me drop the fifty bucks on it lol! I have a diy led that would like a tank this size up like Wrigley field. I'll be following along to see how this tank develops.

Awesome little tank! It's filling up with coral frags fast too. Id love to try a pico tank. Had a 10 gallon nano that I ran for a bit but never really took off. Long term I'm tempted to turn it into an all in one style.

Thanks, I raised my light up from 8'' to 12". Looked like I had some bleaching. Also added some more sick Xmas to tank. All corals so far are rescue corals.
