Hi guys thought I would just vent alittle ..i am making the switch back to what I originally loved ,LPs ..for some odd reason I got all caught up with the sps hype in my 300 gallon .my original love for the hobby came from the swaying and colors of torchs, frogspawns ,bubbles ,brains .i got caught up with sps and have a bunch of colony's that I watched over the passed few years grow into beautiful big colonys .recently something is going on in my tank and I'm watching them slowly die ,I can't figure out why, all tests look great ...its always something with sps and I'm tired of it .i took a step back and realized that the way my tank looks is not really what I had imagined ..

Sorry it didn't work out. My first love is the smaller polyp stony corals personally. However, larger stony corals require some of the same exact care and need stability and avail nutrients just the same. Some of the only two major differences are light and flow needs.

I agree with you. With SPS your always on the edge. LPS is best!

Have a couple sps myself, but still cant get over how nice a bubble coral looks. Love the one I have and thoroughly enjoyed watching it grow from 5" across to now almost 11" in the past 7 months.

Yeah i have to agree i do love seeing the sps grow but its always something i have a bunch still and my favorite one that i gree from a small frag is the size of a dinnerplate ,hurts just watching it die ....and not having an answer is the worst part .what did i do wrong ? Did i even do anything wrong? Other sps in my tank look great ,others dont makes no sense ..

I've dabbledin sps and let me say it's been one heartbreak after another. My LPS are super happy and grow so I too will stick with what works in my tank.

What are you numbers at? Type of lights? Maybe there is something off and you are just overlooking.

I like LPS more because they provide more movement and animation in a tank. Especially the pretty Euphyllias and the dazzling colors of acans and chalice. With LPS you can have a variety of corals that isn't as demanding as SPS and LPS likes no skimmer tanks more so LPS will always be my favorite :D

The only SPS I may try is montipora or pollipora. But still with a 10 gallon and no skimmer I guess I'll just stick to LPS and softies.

Best word of advice "stick with what works for you" and for me that's LPS
