I have an old DC8 direct connect 8 and wanted to add to my Apex lite for additional outlets. Can anyone help me with some instructions how to add it to my apex.

Thanks
Sal

Plug it in where it says control on your apex lite. You may have to add it if it doesnt recognize it in your modules.

Personally you should uprgrade to a EB8. DC8 don't allow for showing AMps, can create problems if far from the APex Controller itself.

to see if it's added go to Configuration > Module Setup and see if it's listed when you plug it in control port. If not than add it in your modules

not if you are aware you can also add virtual outlets as well

Thanks its worked. I hear what you saying about a new EB8 and i have them too. I just had an old one laying around and could use some extra outlets.

I ran into another problem now. It shows up on my controller but wont let me turn anything on or off. What did you mean by it can create problems if far from the apex Controller itself?

Make sure the phone cord has 4 wires not 2 wires. The phone cord should not be more than 8ft away from apex itself I think

I will try a smaller wire since the one I'm using is probably 20 feet long. It doesn't show up in modules but does show up in the dashboard controls.

Also planning to do this when my APEX arrives. Would like to learn from your issues.

I hooked it up to a 4 wire but still doesn't work. I took some pics if it helps with my connection.

It doesn't look like it shows up in the module but it does in the control panel.

Legacy devices such as the DC8's will not show up in the module list when you add them. You will however see the outlets in the outlet list. Adding a legacy device such as the DC8 is the same process as adding virtual outlets only with the DC8, you need to use the correct "address". That said, it sounds like the address is incorrect for the DC8. It's been a while since I added a legacy device to my Apex so I don't recall how to verify the device address. When I set my Apex up several years back, I retained my old Lunar Sims from my original Aqua Controller and they get setup the same way. You just have to use the correct address when you add the module.

If you haven't done so already, I would do some reading in the forum below and if you can't figure it out, start a thread there no somebody will get you squared away.

check the dip switches they have to correspond to the actual address. Example if I remember correctly for address A switch 1 and 2 OFF, for address B Switch 1 On Switch 2 OFF..

YEs you have to add to modules. However, also check the dip switches

Yep. You are correct about the dip switches.

Here is the DC8 manual and it explains how to assign addresses to the DC8. That address will need to correspond to the address you assign when you add the DC8 module to the Apex through the add module page.
