I have a male and female cross hatch trigger that have been together in my 300 reef for a year or so. I bought them both together when they were 3". They have doubled in size. Female has great color but the male spends most of his time looking pale in color, almost white. When I feed he seems to get his color back but then it flushes out again. I had another male years ago that didnt have this issue. That being said it was also 8" when I got him. Other tank mates include a naso, few clowns , sail fin and a floweri. Looking for someone possible reasons for the color concern. No aggression water is on the money, eats like a pig. Thoughts please...

Eats mysis, krill and spectrum pellet mainly. Often food is soaked in selcon.

Unfortunately crosshatch trigger that are "pairs" and close to the same size usually have a power struggle to see who will actually be the male... Most of the time they both turn male especially in something like a 300g Humaguy had the smallest pair ever collected in his 750g+ tank and they both still needed up male. Bullitr had a trio which all turned male too in his 480g. That being said its hard to tell why the male isn't looking as colorful? Could be he is trying to be a she
