View Full Version : Gauging Interest - FUPA Spring/Summer Shenanigans

Hello everyone, looks like the weather is getting warmer. So you know what that means…the after effects of FFM begin to die down, flowers start blooming, grass grows and all the fun activities outside begin. During the spring and summer we tend to see a lull in reef activity and the boards become silent with reef chatter.
The FUPA group was talking about this lull in activity and thought it would be a good opportunity to have some sort of spring/summer Reef Boost BBQ. Right now this is more of a gauging interest in this type of get together to see if it would take shape and be something folks would want to attend. Right now no place is set in mind but it could be someone’s back yard or a LFS so we can get our coral/fish fix satisfied.
Please let us know what you think!!!
Give a vote - Yes, No or Maybe
If we get enough interest we will definitely start planning it!

CTARS is planning a couple BBQ's in conjunction with LFS. CTARS and FUPA can collaborate and have a great time talking reef and eating some good food!

Been planning since last year and perfecting our smoking skills. Also can get our hands on a trailered pitt if need be. Mike's pulled pork and homemade sauce is second to none.

Maybe some Jell-O shot specimen cups. You think yellow lemon flavored ones would be weird???
Sounds like fun. I've been known to throw down on the cigar front from time to time. [emoji12] If you don't mind an ARK invasion.

Thanks bud. Anytime! Once its gets nice out, I rarely touch these bad boys in the winter (who wants to spend 2 hours freezing - that's not a way in my mind to enjoy a good smoke). I'm not a scotch guy in all honesty, believe it or not I like to have coffee with a cigar. Or a nice Lambic if I'm drinking. I know blasphemy!
See anything you want to try in particular? You don't know what's in the drawers yet... :) The Monte Edmundos are my actual fave, for domestic, I like San Lotano Ovals, but the Pigs and Timeless are great smokes too. If I can make it to the BBQ, I'll bring that box of Fuentes for the Noobs and some better stuff for the aficionados.

I can appreciate the cofee and Stogie sir.... I tend to do this one myself on nice afternoon post work. Sometimes with a splash of deliciousness lol. I dont have particular taste for any dailys but I recently recevied a shipment from cuba(GTMO Bay)(not real cubans) from the wife thinking they were real but they were surprisingly smooth with very subtle notes. Nothing over powering but absolutely hits the spot for a daily. Cuban Rounds i believe is the name. I typically reach for the Monte's in different varieties when i head to the shops, but course im always open to taste new Stogies.
Damn my bad, totally derailed the thread lol.... may need to start a new thread for Whiskey/Stogies.

If you enjoyed it, that's all you can ask really. There are a lot of great values out there, we could have a whole thread on just that alone! PM if you want a list of my recommendations :) Pat - nothing wrong with Macanudos if you enjoy them! PS. Cigarbid is the devil.

Well if we can derail on the Cigar subject - Here is my list of must try (reasonably priced - sub $10) stoogies.
Aging Room F55 Quattro Vibrato
My Father's Flor De Las Antillies (FDLA)
AJ Fernandez's San Lotano Oval Robusto
Nat Sherman Timeless
Drew Estate Nica Rustica - Awesome after a big meat filled meal
La Jugada Habano
Espinosa Habano
This made me laugh
That site is the devil - do not visit it if you are into Cigars. It's like watching a JFOX live auction, but at half the posted live sale price with an actual - real - chance of winning something!
