I have a Silica-Buster in the final stage of a Maxcap 180, and I am wondering if it has a life expectancy. It still looks normal, brown on the bottom a blue on top, but it is around 1.5 years old. When the first DI cart starts showing 1TDS, I swap it out, so the SB doesn't even get to deionize anything except for extra polishing. I've read that they have a 6 month shelf life, tho I don't know if it applies here.

Thanks

The shelf life can be a year or greater. It all depends if the mylar bag is still sealed and sucked in on the cartridge.

ok, so the cart is fine in the unit and having water running thru it for a long time as long as its not expended?

Oh you are talking about in the system running. How many MaxCap DI cartridges have you replaced? Yes some people have very good luck with awesome water parameters to begin with. Switch the two meters around to see if you get the same readings.
