will the bacteria in my aquarium die from 68 degree water? I do not have a reliable heater at this moment,I also do not have a thermometer so I am guessing it's room temp

No, they'll be fine. But Corals start getting kind of upset below 72ish.

68.1 seems a good survivable temperature: I got through 8 days of it with no power and all corals were fine. Don't let it reach 62. That's where lethality sets in. If you have to, heat the room or heat cups of salt water (not to boiling) in the microwave and pour it somewhere it won't hit fish or corals.

How do you use a microwave with no power?

I think she was replying to the OP and not saying how she got through her 8 days without power. :headwally:

I think the bacteria in your system can tolerate colder temperatures than anything else. Your fish, corals and inverts will all die before the bacteria do.
