Hi all, I was visiting a local reefer today and he was using a very noisy osmolator. I havent read much about them being noisy so I was a little surprised. It was easily the noisiest piece of equipment when it was pumping water. Is this normal? I was thinking of an osmolator myself but this was just too much noise.

yep, makes a whine every time time it tops off. It's even on a silicone pad. Loudest piece of equipment I have.

What did it sound like? If there's air in it from running dry at some point it's really loud (I've found I have to shake the pump a little after a refill if I accidentally let it run dry), but otherwise it's pretty much silent for me as I only hear the water as it goes into the tank, with a very slight pump noise

For me, it makes a whining sound. Very obvious. Wish I would have just piece meal an ATO together for the price tag.

It's a high pitched whine. Like the propellors of a quadcopter :)
