Hey guys, going to make this short and right to the point. Trying to figure out how to stock my 180 gallon tank. Its a 72x24x24 and it has a 55G sump so I am moving around 210-215 gallons of actual water.

It is a FOWLR tank, no reef stuff.

Here is the list I am proposing, I am looking for feedback on any and all of it. Are they compatible etc. My wife is really stuck on having clowns, so I am trying to keep this peaceful as possible while still being a nice setup.

Fish List

2 Ocellaris Clownfish
1 Blue Spot Puffer
1 Coral Angel Beauty Dwarf Angelfish
1 Snowflake Eel
1 Foxface Lo
1 Grey Head Wrasse
1 Convict Tang
1 Kole Yellow Eye Tang

Not sure if the two tangs will fight though.

Also curious how much more room I will have bio load wise to add more? Or am I over the limit already? First SW tank so not familiar with stocking levels on these.

Thanks in advance!!!!

I'd say you've got room to add a few more fish. Fairy wrasses are nice peaceful fish for the most part and some are really colorful. You're probably ok on the tangs, I would just add them towards the end of stocking the tank and maybe even add them together to minimize aggression.

So what else would you add? How many more fish would you be thinking to add?

Maybe a Flame Hawkfish, maybe 2 Dwarf Angels, Majestic/Regal Angel, more wrasses, Bluethroat Trigger, maybe some Butterflies. You have many options with that size tank. For as the tangs, the convict is a very shy and timid fish and can be difficult to acclimate. IMO, it may not be aggressive enough to go into that tank with those tankmates. Maybe look into a Whitecheek, Mimic, Purple, or a Powder Blue to go in with the Kole. Add them at the same time and you will have a better chance of reducing aggression between the 2.

I love the Huma Picasso trigger but won't it eat my clowns?

Yoy might get away with it for awhile, but IMO as they mature and get bigger they become more aggressive. That's why I recommended the Bluethroat Trigger, they are very peaceful and would be a great addition to your wishlist.

I am admittedly clueless about eels in general, but you might want to double check stocking the eel with ocellaris, who are generally the most peaceful clownfish option.

Doesn't a 6' tank sound small for a PBT? I thought they needed at least 8' of swimming length.

180 is the min for the PBT. The Achilles, I say needs a 8ft tank.

What about a clean up crew? What would I want for that?

Thinking about replacing the foxface with a Pearlscale Butterflyfish. Good call? I dont want to deal with poisonous spines.

The Fox face would be part of your clean up crew? I had a snowflake eel for 10 years they get rather large and we'll eat your clownfish if not feed often

Foxfaces are not at all aggressive. They are more likely to try to camouflage themselves than intentionally harm other fish.

+1^^^..Also they will usually run away from you if you have to stick your hand in the tank for any reason. On note you should be wearing gloves if you have to go into the tank.

Is the butterfly fish a bad idea?

I think butterfly fish need fairly established tanks. It's been a while since I had one though.
