View Full Version : Whole house filter prior to RO/DI worthwhile?

I have a MaxCap 90gpd unit that's been working great for me the past year. The condo I'm in has a whole-house filtration canister (looks like a 20" x 4.5" size) in the main water line, but it's currently being bypassed. Would it be worth throwing a sediment (or carbon?) filter in there to pre-condition the water a bit before it gets to the MaxCap to extend the life of those filters? My tap is typically at ~240 TDS, and I haven't had to replace my filters very often. Since it's an available option, just wondering if this is a good idea, bad idea, or a meh, whatever kind of idea.

Absolutely. We have larger filters.
