I will start off saying I have been reading a lot and watching a lot of videos.
I am new to this so if I am giving crappy info... forgive me.
I got a sun coral about a month ago from my LFS.
I have had it in my tank. I have not glued it down yet because I have not picked a location. When I got it, it had 3 polyps. It has since started growing 2 more.
When I got it, I would see that it would swell up and expose a little bit of the yellow tentacles. Ive seen it only maybe 2 times.
Right now, I have it on a plug on the sand. I have read many people debating this, saying sand will get in it etc. I have not had an issue with this and it makes it easier to feed.
I feed it by putting a cut bottle head over it, tease it and when it "opens" I feed it. However, it doesnt really open. I never see the yellow, it just seems to open its mouth and swell up.
Am I doing something wrong that I am never seeing it really open or does it just take a long time?

Here is a link to a good site about sun corals : http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2011/12/corals.
I have four sun coral in my tank, when I first get a new sun I take it out of my tank every
day in a small bowl of tank water and feed with very stinkey food. I do this until the new sun
coral opens fully. It may take up to a week.
