Switching over from all in one tanks finally to a sump setup and I'm pretty excited!
Current tank (kinda old pic):

Got my Glass Holes.com 700gph overflow kit:

Tank prepped and ready to drill (don't mind the messy yard just had some construction going on):

Turned out much better than I had expected (first time drilling):

Stand also came in today (petco stand $100):

Assembled:

And I was ready to paint the back of the tank but here in Tampa looks like rain today:

More to come soon. Waiting on my 20 gallon sump kit to arrive and I can start plumping!

Filled it with water and she's a little murky. More updates to come in the future.
I like your idea with the crate.

Thanks I had seen several other users use this method and so I gave it a try. The rocks are nice and sturdy and theres no way for something to dig out underneath a rock and collapse anything.

Wow very nice! That's exactly how I would set up a 40B very clean and simple! Do you plan on seeding the dry rock with live rock?
Will definitely be following along.

Thank you! I've been debating on whether or not to seed the rock, I really don't want any pests so I was hesitant on seeding with live rock but I may add a small piece just to speed up the process

Did you switch out any of the LEDs? I'm gonna use Dr Tims to start my rock. I've read great stuff. http://www.drtimsaquatics.com/treat-aquarium-nitrite-ammonia-levels
