I though I would ask this question to the SW community as most FW people use canisters. What are good return pumps for a 150g freshwater tank? I was looking at a aqua-mag 12 or 18. Are these any good? I am trying to keep the price below $200.

Fluvall sp series is pretty quiet.

I would look at Eheim, Sicce Syncra, and Tunze for dependable and fairly quiet.

Mag pumps are considered work horse pumps, but tend to be louder than others.

Check out the deepwater DC10. I have the DC12 on my 150 reef and only have it at 60%. Incredibly quiet and smooth start

Depends on how much flow you want. The Fluval SP4 is a good, quiet & reliable pump. depending on the plumbing you should be able to get at least 1000-1200 GPH.

The waveline DC pumps are good too, but might be a bit over your budget (the DC 10000II is generally around $225, give or take.

For the money, I think the Fluval is your best bet.
