I just got in the below light. I had thought it drew 45 watts from the outlet but upon testing with my kilowatt meter it only draws 12 watts. I am currently using a 2700k 100 watt equivalent CFL and wanted more growth. Will the below light do anything at all or should I return it?

Well, it will do something, just not at the same power you wanted. The 100W equivalent bulbs are about 23W IIRC, but the targeted spectrum and wider spread of the grow light might mean it grows more than the CFL.

Wrong specifications seems endemic for LED lights from unknown brands / direct imports: http://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/the-big-ebay-led-floodlight-scam/ https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vbt2ojkXPuo

Do you need that much power? Is your ATS above water? I'm wondering with the correct wavelength light and not having to drive it through water, you might find this light works much better.

I've never used a 2700k bulb either but the 6500k seem to be the recommended CFL on here, have you tried one? I guess the point is more growth is why I'm asking.

What size is your screen? Use the LED guide in the algae turf scrubber basics thread to figure out what wattage you need and then get one of the two lights below.

These two lights are the only affordable "off the shelf" led lights that I know of that have been reported to work well on ATS. I have the first ones and they are going great.

They still put out a couple of watts under what they say so if you need a 10W then get a 20W etc but they are way closer to their actual wattage than the other grow lights out there.

The one you posted will grow algae but as it gets thick the light won't be able to punch through the growth to the base and the base will die off.
