Hello all,
I've had a blue hippo tang the pst 2 months, and a few weeks ago I decided to reset my tank due to ich. Ice been doing the tank transfer method on my 4 tangs the past 2 weeks in a pair of 40 breeders. I was also doing hypo at the same time to be safe.
On the last transfer, day 12 or so, I noticed my blue hippo acting odd. It just lays on its side pretending to be dead. When I get near it, it will wiggle, maybe come up right for a second, and then go back on its side. I was a bit confused, and decided to isolate it in its own tank with new water, thinking maybe it was due to ammonia spikes? That was 4 days ago.
What's odd is the blue hippo hasn't changed behavior. It will stay on its side, if it sees me near it will wiggle, and if it's feeling ok, try to valance up right for a few seconds before falling over. I've also not seen it was the past few days, most likely due to it having whatever issue it currently has. I've tried feeding live brine, mysis, pellets, and flakes.
Does anyone have any idea what the issue could possibly be? I'm done treating for ich, and the fish itself looks good externally with no visual indications. I know blue tangs like to play dead and are odd fish, but this seems VERY out of the norm.
Id appreciate any ideas. Thanks
