View Full Version : Medicating DT, is it a problem?

We have a 300g FOWLR, and a few of the new fish have developed bacterial infections. We would like to treat the entire DT, but want to make sure this will not cause problems later. We did not QT the new additions (not here to argue QT's), and some of them are extremely difficult to catch without tearing the tank apart.

Out concern is not with the immediate effects of treating the DT, but with future problems. If we were to move and had to breakdown the tank, would we be able to clean it and still have the option of making it a reef tank? Or will the meds still be present and make this tank unacceptable as a reef tank?

Your help in this matter is really appreciated. I should add that we are looking at treating with Furan-2 and Kenamyacin.

Depends on the med in question. If its copper, your fine ive used copper to quarantine DT and 6months later, i converted to a reef. Havent had issues in 3 years.

Cant comment on other meds
