I am considering putting some live rock in my sump to help aid filtration a little.
At the moment the sump has some chaeto and a phosphate reactor and is lit with the light from a nano tank.
I am looking at the possibility of growing some pods to supplement the diet of my tanks inhabitants.
Is it worth the bother of getting extra rock or am I better off leaving the sump as it is?

If you're just looking for filtration check out marinepure blocks

How big is your tank and how much live rock do you have in it? How heavy is the bio-load?

If you think you need more LR, putting it in the sump or refugium will help. I put a lot in my big sump space. I leave the refugium just for Chaeto. I don't want the Chaeto to attach to the LR in case I want a piece for use in the DT.

Siporax is also a good alternative to liverock.

Here is my converted wet/dry which shows my extra live rock. I feel you can't have enough lr in a system.

Great idea. -Make use of the excess space in your sump!! -If you have any. .
I put over 100 pounds of sand in my sump. Works great at keeping my tank super stable for over18 months now.

i have lots of live rock in my sump, small and large pieces. that way, i don't have to put all of it in my dt which leaves the fish more swimming space.

If you look at my pic above, the bottom right hand side, there is an orange Holloween crab that I keep in there to clean detritus. Thanks to this little one, the only thing kept on the bottom of my sump is some sand and small rock. Keeps me from having to disturb and clean the sump.

Never too much live rock....
I also keep two fish in my sump....

Neither good for my reef....

Keeps me very interested in my sump....

Look into the marine pure blocks like Ryan said. There is also a huge discussion on them
