Hey TBS fans quick question,
after adding 40+ lbs on TBS to my cycled and cured BRS reef saver rock 3 days later I started getting a brown algae bloom prob. dino all over the rocks and sand bed.

the ammonia did get up to 4ppm in the holding tank I have the LR in for a day then went to the DT never got above 1pp. check last night its around .25ppm I I am guessing this is a lil cycle wondering if anyone else has had this happen?

lighting is never over 25% on my photon V2 trying to accumulate LR to lighting but give enough for the gorg.

going to be doing a 5 to 10% water change tonight or tomorrow.
has anyone else had a bloom like this?

before TBS

after TBS LOVE this stuff:

I am sure it will pass just looking for tips and tricks and general discussion if anyone else had this happen and what they did about it.

cheers

It's Normal. Get your clean up crew in there and stay on top of nitrate and phosphate. I had do deal with phosphate and I used a bag of gfo and vodka dosing plus good skimming until the LR and system caught up on their own.

a lil update just in case anyone reading or searching TBS..
the tank is going great the dino bloom has gone down. I would say 85-90 gone. Royal gramma and gorg. are happy.

For the record, those are diatoms, not dinoflagellates. Big difference. It most likely came from the BRS dry rock, but as you see, it's a non issue.
