View Full Version : Bacterial or fungal?

Hey guys, I just finished treating a purple tang that had ich with cupramine. Despite my best efforts, the hospital tank went through a short cycle. Severe ammonia and nitrite exposure. I kept him alive using daily doses of prime. Once treatment was finished I changed 100% of the water twice.

While he was in the hospital tank, he developed a small white spot on one side. It's about 1/8" wide and mostly flat with a slightly fuzzy appearance. I'm guessing it's either fungal or bacterial.

Anyone have a medication suggestion? I'd like to treat for fungal and bacterial at the same time if possible.

Thank you!

Ammonia burns. Use bacterial meds like nitrofuracin (furan 2) or kanamycin (seachem kanaplex)

I'm currently treating with Furan 2, but after reading the box, I'm thinking it might be a secondary fungal infection. It's white and "cottony". Any suggestions for fungal meds?

There is no fungus in marine. Its mostly ammonia burns. I had some big tangs that had it when I placed them into a included quarantine tank.

I might try Primafix.
