Newbie lighting help

Hi guys, I'm hoping someone can help me out here, I'm currently slowly moving over to saltwater from tropical and I'm slowly starting to buy the equipment needed for my saltwater tank, which is 3' x 2' x 2'. The question is lighting, I was looking at metal halide lighting but see a lot of people using LED. I will be keeping corals, though not sure on the stock yet, just looking for some advice
