Are these pumps truly quiet. What kind of noise do you get from the dry side. Do you hear the motor ramping up and down? Are they the quietest pumps available?

Thanks in advance.

They are really quiet. I got rid of my old MP40's because of noise, but have since added a QD and it is really, really quiet. Getting ready to add a second.

If you've had the original MP40's you will be amazed they really are 90% quieter! You don't hear them ramping at all.

In tank pumps are still probably quieter, but the new vortechs are a big improvement on the older ones. I don't mind my originals, but the new ones are nice.

I installed QD drivers and wetsides into my WES MP-40's at about 5 AM a week or so ago. I used an SPL app to measure a drop from 53 to 50 dB. The app claims to be lab grade of calibrated, so I think it is fair to say a 3 dB drop was realized. I have to test again because they seem much quieter now.

Has anyone had good luck switching the wet side of the MP40 to the new QD wet side?
I'm debating if it is $75 well spent to reduce the noise.

I did that as part of my upgrade. Actually, a worn wetside is what led me to the upgrade. The new dual bearing design seems much more stable than the old ones. I don't think it will do a whole lot for noise reduction, unless your old wet side is wearing out.

my tank has been silenced (wife cant handle any noise) if a mp40qd is ramped to max you will hear the races making noise once above 90% or so. held at 100% they are not bad but you can hear them (depends on return pump or weir noise even led fan etc)

one thing i can say if you dont need all the speed and run at 85% or lower you wont hear them..

I'm 100% satisfied w/ my MP40QD, I can't hear it at all, and you don't have to mess w/ alignment, just click em together and turn em on, good to go.
