I started carbon dosing several months ago due to high nitrates and the beginning of a green hair algae outbreak. 3 months later my nitrates and phosphates are at 0 but i have a major green hair algae outbreak. Should I keep slowly increasing the dose? My guess is the algae is consuming the nutrients but I am not sure if increasing the dose is the correct thing to do since I am reading 0 nitrates with a red sea kit. I guess my question is will increasing the dose starve the algae? My filter socks used to be full of algae when I changed them but for the last week there has been no algae in the sock, so I am guessing the algae quit dying off.

My dose is fairly small, i am only dosing about 20ml of vinegar a day for a medium stocked 100 gallon total volume system. I am also using GAC and GFO through a reactors.
