I have a little ich situation in my nano reef. I plan on putting my fishes in QT today. There's currently a piece of live rock and some live sand in it. My first preferred method for ich is hyposalinity but may resort to copper if things don't go well. I've always done bare bottom QT but removing live sand sounds like a pain in the neck right now. Any input will be appreciated.

It's fine for a QT.
I would only take it out for actual treatment with copper or antibiotics.

However, for treating ich with hyposalinity I would start with a clean (= uninfected) tank or otherwise you have to treat longer than necessary.

I would take it out, makes dosing meds a guessing game. For instance CP won't absorb into the rock or sand but will make dosing CP correctly near impossible
