Started a previous thread with me thinking it was brooks. 1 of 4 clowns basically instantly died, #2 just took 2 days and just now died. The other 2 seem perfect. Swimming, eating, etc.
Everyone else in the DT seems good.

Any ideas what this could be? Notice the massive fin rot that happened within 24 hours, and the flesh on the bottom jaw is gone.

In your other thread you originally suspected brook. I would tend to agree although ThRoewer suggested a different disease that often gets confused with brook. I'm not familiar with that one so maybe that was it. You mentioned that you formalin dipped the fish and it seemed to get better. How many formalin dips did you do? How long after the last dip did the fish survive and what was it's behavior?

I only had time to do the one dip. I did the dip around 5 or 6pm the day before. By acting better, just swimming a little more instead of laying in the corner of the QT flashing. I dont know if the dip itself did anything or if it was just the activity of it all that got him going again. The next morning around 9am he was back to laying in the corner of the QT flashing heavily, and his fin's were torn up or rotted very badly. I then pulled the 2 other clowns from the QT that had no symptoms of anything and put them in a holding tank.
I checked on them again in the next couple hours, probably around 11am that morning and I could definitely tell he wasnt going to make it another 60 min, which was correct.
The other 2 clowns are still in the holding tank with no meds, still acting normal. Always swimming, going after food...just normal. They're going to stay in the holding tank for probably 3-4 weeks under observation.

At this point my #1 concern is how did it happen. I know you cant really answer that, it's just baffling. No one else in the DT is showing a shread of symptoms (luckily). Why just these 2 clowns when there were 4 clowns in the tank. Why just these and not any other fish at all.
I would still like to know what it was that killed him though if anyone has any type of "oh yeah thats brooks if I ever saw it" sort of answer.

I've had fish die, I know it happens. These guys are just hard because they were my 1st ever purchase for the reef tank.
