If I'm not mistaken red mangroves grown in freshwater can later be transferred to salt water using the radical method within the first 8-9 months of their lives.

The radical method involves clipping all of the roots off and then transferring them and allowing them to grow new roots.

Since the propagule has enough nutrients from its mother tree to sustain for about 12 months it therefore has enough reserves to develop new roots.

However I was wondering if this method could be used to transfer red mangroves grown in soil to saltwater?

I would say that you have a very high chance of killing the mangroves. Mangroves hate having their roots cut, and they hate rapid changes in conditions. They need to be acclimated to saltwater over days, and if their roots are cut, the saltwater will rush into the cuts and very quickly kill the plants.
