I saw on another site that Tunze is announcing a new line of powerheads at Interzoo. Anyone have inside secrets?

Wouldn't be surprised because I bought a pair of 6045's from an online retailer and noticed shortly after (maybe ten days ago) they had taken them off the site

I'm looking forward to it!

If I had to guess they are working towards a "no cord in the tank" version. But I have nothing to back this up. Love my tunzes and can't wait to see what it is.

That would be awesome and I would want to switch my vortechs out for that. Tunze customer service is amazing (not knocking ecotech) but the ability to control direction of flow would be sweet.

Tunze Headquarters FB page has some teaser pics. There's a new Stream-like pump but only half of it is visible. There's also a new calcium reactor and what appears to be some kind of controller.

Any updates on these? I seen the controller information.

Interzoo is this weekend. I would expect further information sometime over the weekend.

5 year warranty, nice. it may be on the larger size but can be easy to hide behind the rock

Why don't they make any that rotate?

The output can be directed via a deflector.

I think they had fun though :) Imitating Apple like that etc. I think they were doing this ;) to us aquarium nerds.

Do somebody knows what is the wattage and the flow for the one advertised? For me they look big but maybe they will come with less flow and smaller at some point.

Yeah but they don't rotate back and forth in the tank.

Exactly.

Fish street has a motor that rotates them, but at 65 bucks I'm hesitant to try it.

I too was thinking it might be something other than a new power head version. My tunzes now are close to silent, move a lot of water and don't use much electricity. Not sure why I would need to switch? I really thought it would be a no chord in the tank version. Oh well I'm sure they will be awesome even tho I will stick with what I have.

I gotta say, after watching the video and listening to the host speak about so much technology and research on these pumps...i feel they designed a bad concept.

What we look forward to is small footprint(as small as possible) with high efficient, wide flow. The more i look at this Tunze, the more i think about how Ecotech kicked butt with their Vortech design, now years old.

The way the pump is shaped is hidious, the warning malfunction leds light up on its BLACK plastic body? Didnt they design it to be hidden behind rockwork, and dont they know coraline will cover that little screen at no time? How would one ever be able to see those lights?

If one gets those pumps for a large tank, other pumps for Left-right flow would be needed. The Tunze magnets can attach to the rear glass, pushing flow from the rear-front, also with the option for the directional little cap, but i just cant see this working well as a stand alone pump for efficient flow throughout the tank.

for those that think they will be hard to hide because of their size, look at their new video. other than the reflection they are hide pretty good IMO and still good flow.

as for the lights being covered by coralline, yes but if something goes wrong your gonna pull the pump out to clean it to see if that's the issue and you will see the lights when it's cleaned.
