I'm trying to decide what pump I need GPH wise for my 90 bow front. I'm looking to do a mixed reef. Its also about a 4'-5' head.

I am using the Vectra M1 from Ecotech rated at 2000gph. Pricey but quiet. I have it on full and also running some reactors, using pvc and their is no vibration or sounds.

I've used jabao pumps in the past and they were fine for me. Never failed in the 16 months I used them - a friend is still using it.

Get a larger pump than you think you'll need and dial it down. I recommend a DC pump no matter what pump you decide to use.

I'm sorry not to sound like a fool here but what do you mean by DC?

I was actually thinking of going with the Syncra Silent 5.0 Pump (1321 GPH)

DC=direct current. Essentially all of the old standby workhorses were AC powered, but the current trend is toward DC powered pumps due to lower energy consumption and reduced noise. Some of them look promising for long term reliability, but there is also a smattering of junk around, as well as a bunch of pumps that are decent.

Gotcha! Yeah I'm just trying to figure out what pump I need. Its gonna be sitting in a 20 gallon long I am making as my refugium/sump

I recently switched from an Eheim 1262 to a DC 9000 Jabeo I got from reefbreeders. Eheim was solid workhorse and still runs but I do like the variable speed function of the Jaebo. Not sure what size you need a lot of variables there.

My return is 3/4" will the DC Jabeo work? I would like to use all PVC
