anyone.. need help... effect of failure to regulate at low salinity or bacteria infection?

You ever figure this out?

possible result from rockie mistake.. I was doing hypo and think went to far below.. was at 1.006. bad miwaukee digital refractometer.. bought two brs refractometers with calibration solution and calibrate with solution only. not rodi. water.

bottom line I think this was result of the 1.006 salinity. or just effects of hypo.. I am hypo the DT right now. day 24.

With a regular handheld refractometer the proper calibration solution for hyposalinity is distilled water (RO should be fine too), not 35 ppt solution!
Refractometer have usually a certain linearity error so you want your calibration solution as close to your measurement point as possible.
For hyposalinity that is the (near) 0 ppt of distilled water.
For full ocean salinity it is 35 ppt solution.
Temperature is also a factor that should not be ignored.

Digital refractometer may differ, though with them I would expect the need for a 2 point calibration to adjust for scale and offset.
