Hi. I'm looking for sources (sellers) of good quality limewood (basswood, wooden) airstones. I would appreciate it if you could refer me to any sources that you know.

Thanks.

Thanks you Webmanny. I searched on eBay, but I'm looking for recommended (tested) sources. Is there any source that you have tried and can recommend? Obviously, also looking for best price/value ;)

Limewood is what they all use, so I would pick one of the "packs" listed.

Hi. Can you recommend a specific source/manufacturer?

You can get Lee's brand all day long from Amazon. (http://www.amazon.com/Lees-Wooden-Diffuser-3-Inch-2-Pack/dp/B0002QQN4Y/ref=sr_1_3?s=pet-supplies&ie=UTF8&qid=1464709038&sr=1-3&keywords=lees+air+stone)

Thank you. But that translates to $4.00 a piece. I want to buy in volumes, that's why I'm looking for a cheap but recommendable source. There is a guy on eBay called Hoolko, which I like, but I'm looking for alternatives.

Go to a fine wood working shop and pick up a piece of Bass Wood. An make your own.
The wood a piece of 1/4 airline tubing and a drill and bandsaw and you can make plenty of them. I use to make them and sell them to the local stores for credit back 30 years ago. :)

Reefwiser, the bass wood needs to be oven dried or is there any special treatment? Did you use threaded plastic fitting or those transparent without threads (just inserted under pressure)?

Most basswood you can buy from a lumber dealer will be kiln dried. You can use either type of fitting (I've made them from both).

It didn't need to be dry cured in any way. I did a press fit of the air line tubing.

A 10 Pack for $ 14.99 = each $1.49

After I have my basswood pieces, what tool is the best for drilling the holes? A drill press?
